Welcome to Fat 2 Fit!

Not sure where to start? You’re in the right place. This blog was born after I had hernia surgery and realized... I wasn’t in the shape I thought I was. Not even close to the shape I used to be 20 years ago. But instead of spiraling, I took action—and I’m here to help you do the same.

Why Fat 2 Fit Exists

Let’s be real: it’s not about how much you weigh. That only matters when you're choosing a skydiving canopy. This blog is about becoming functionally strong, improving your core strength, building bone density, and aging like a boss—without a walker.

We’re all getting older. But do we want to hit 60 needing a hip replacement... or 100 and still moving like we’re 60? I’ll take the latter, thanks.

Trying to Lose Weight?

Start by understanding what’s happening in your body. Weight loss isn’t just about eating less—it’s about eating smart and moving with purpose. Start by reading these:

How Many Calories Should I Eat?

Weight loss isn’t magic—it’s math. Your body burns calories just to stay alive and functioning. A simple way to estimate your daily maintenance calories is:

Your weight in pounds × 14 = Your maintenance calories

To lose weight, eat fewer calories than this number. A 500-calorie deficit per day = roughly 1 pound lost per week.

Current Weight (lbs) Maintenance Calories (Weight × 14) Calorie Goal (500 Deficit)
150 2,100 1,600
180 2,520 2,020
200 2,800 2,300
220 3,080 2,580

Note: These are rough estimates. Your real calorie needs may vary based on muscle mass, age, hormones, and how active you are—but this gives you a solid starting point.
